About Nathan

I help leaders and organizations skillfully navigate and leverage conflict, complexity and change.

As a leadership coach and consultant, I specialize in helping individuals and teams develop the mindset, capabilities, and cultural conditions to deepen collaboration and performance in the midst of conflict, growth, and disruptive change.

My Approach

My work integrates design strategy and embodied leadership practices. Drawing from ethnographic research, design thinking, systems practice, and contemplative disciplines, I design and facilitate spaces where leaders and teams can practice working together in new ways, unearthing powerful new possibilities and skills.

This integrated approach helps clients to:

  • Understand and embody new leadership capabilities and achieve new results
  • Navigate complexity, change and risk with greater clarity and agility
  • Build high-trust, collaborative, impactful teams capable of self-management

Experience

I've worked globally with organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies, foundations and NGOs, to international social impact coalitions on leadership development, organizational culture, collaboration and conflict transformation, and systemic change. I've worked on complex social challenges including child protection, racial equity, immigration, and pandemic response to name a few.

Currently, I serve as a Senior Leadership Consultant with Potential Project International, designing and delivering transformative leadership development programs that harness the power of the mind.

Background

I hold a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from Albert-Ludwigs University (Freiburg, Germany) including research at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Durban, South Africa) and the Center for the Study of Social Systems at Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi, India). I conducted field research on the strategies and agency of indigenous social movements in Cochabamba and La Paz, Bolivia.

My approach is informed by over fifteen years of internal arts practice, primarily in Zen and Chan meditation, Hunyuan qigong, and Chen style taijiquan. For those interested in deepening their own embodiment practice, please visit Ground Center.

When I'm not working, you might find me cooking, traveling, or diving headlong into a tarn.
